How often should my cat poop?
Once a day is typical for most cats. Twice is fine. Every other day is at the edge of normal, and worth watching. The consistency matters too: stool should be firm enough to hold its shape but not so hard it’s dry and crumbly. Cats on wet food often produce slightly softer stool than cats on kibble, because of the higher water content. The single most useful thing you can track is your individual cat’s baseline. A real change from that baseline (more often, less often, looser, harder) matters more than the absolute number.
When to call a vet: no stool for 48 hours or more, a sudden increase in frequency without a diet change, or blood or mucus in stool — vet.
