Why does my cat drink from the toilet?
Toilet water is cool, moving when freshly flushed and tucked in a quiet low-traffic room, which ticks several boxes cats like. It isn’t a sign anything is wrong, but it’s worth redirecting, since cleaning chemicals and bowl bacteria aren’t great for her. Keep the lid down and give her a more appealing option: fresh water in a wide bowl or a fountain, set away from her food and litter. If she suddenly starts seeking water everywhere and drinking far more than usual, that’s a different issue.
When to call a vet: If her drinking has clearly increased, ask your vet to check for kidney disease, diabetes or thyroid trouble.
