Why does my cat eat too fast and then throw up?
This is the classic scarf-and-barf: a cat gulps a meal so quickly that her stomach rejects it, and up comes mostly undigested food a few minutes later. It’s common in fast eaters, in homes where cats compete for food and after a long gap between meals. Slowing the meal usually solves it. Spread kibble on a flat tray, use a slow feeder or puzzle feeder, or split the day into more frequent smaller meals. If she keeps vomiting even when she eats slowly, or starts losing weight, it’s worth a vet check.
When to call a vet: Frequent vomiting that continues despite slower feeding, or comes with weight loss, deserves a vet workup.
