How many treats can I give my cat a day?

Keep treats to no more than about 10 percent of her daily calories, with the other 90 percent coming from a complete, balanced food. For a typical cat that’s only a few small treats a day, which is easy to blow past without noticing. Too many treats crowd out balanced nutrition and pack weight onto a small animal fast. Use them with intention, for training, bonding or a puzzle toy, and pick simple single-ingredient options when you can. If she’s gaining weight, the treat jar is the first place to look.
