What’s the best diet for a cat with a sensitive stomach?

Sensitive-stomach commercial cat foods tend to share three traits: a limited protein source (often a single protein), easily digestible carbohydrates like rice or oats, and added prebiotics. Wet versions usually agree with sensitive cats better than dry, because the higher water content is easier on the gut and the lower carb load tends to produce less inflammation. Transition gradually (10 to 14 days). If a specific food triggers her, work backward by ingredient: chicken and beef are the most common trigger proteins. Single-protein novel-protein diets (rabbit, duck) help in some cases.

When to call a vet: chronic mild GI symptoms can be inflammatory bowel disease, food allergy or pancreatitis. If diet changes don’t help in 4 to 6 weeks, a vet workup is the right next step.
