Why does my cat try to drink from my glass?

Your glass is appealing for the same reasons the faucet is: the water is fresh, it’s up off the floor away from her food and litter and it’s yours, which makes it interesting. Cats are sensitive to water freshness and placement, so a glass on the nightstand can simply beat a stale bowl in the kitchen corner. Give her her own fresh water in a spot she likes, refreshed daily, and she’ll lean on yours less. A sip of plain water is harmless, though anything with caffeine, alcohol or sweetener is not.
