Why won’t my cat drink from her new bowl?

New bowls can smell like plastic or detergent, sit at an unfamiliar height or have a shape that presses on her whiskers, any of which can put a cat off. Cats are creatures of habit about where and how they drink. Wash the new bowl well to clear residue, fill it near the brim so the surface is easy to reach and set it in the same spot as the old one for a few days. A wide shallow ceramic or stainless bowl is the safest bet for a picky drinker.
