Why won’t my cat eat from the bottom of a full bowl?

Two things tend to be going on. First, food at the bottom of a deep bowl often goes stale faster as cats stir it, especially wet food. Second, deep narrow bowls press on a cat’s whiskers as she reaches for the bottom, which many cats find unpleasant enough to walk away rather than push through. A shallow wide dish, refilled in small fresh portions, usually fixes both.
