How do I get cat hair off furniture and clothes?

On furniture, a damp rubber glove works better than any specialty tool: drag it across the surface and the hair clumps and lifts off. A pet-hair vacuum attachment also helps for big upholstery jobs. For clothes, a sticky lint roller is the standard answer, and tossing items in the dryer on a no-heat or air-only cycle for ten minutes (with a dryer sheet) shakes a lot of hair loose into the lint trap. The upstream fix is brushing the cat more often, which removes hair before it ends up on the couch.
